Default A couple off the vice

Here's a couple that have done well for me..

The first is nothing more than a Black Dabbler with a few tweaks. Could have called it a BD variant but liked the idea of black pearl.

Black Pearl Dabbler.

Hook: Hyabusa 373 #10-12
Thread: UNI-Thread 8/0, black.
Tail: Cock Pheasant side tail fibres.
Body: Mix of black, dark claret and red SF.
Rib 1: Mirage opal, sml.
Rib 2: UTC red wire, sml.
Body Hackle: Black cock.
Wing: Bronze Mallard, cloaked.
Cheeks: JC splits.

The second one is a "new" one, to me at least. First tied last Friday night and has so far accounted for a 6+ Brown and a 4+ Rainbow. Make your own judgement.

Airehead Dabbler.

Tail: Cock Pheasant side tail fibres.

Give them a try in your local ressies, you might be surprised.

I'm fairly sure Alex got a couple on the pearly one on Saturday including a biggie.
Dabblers in various guises accounted for most of the fish over the three days....

Yes James I've tied them on a size 0 and 00 as dwy fwy versions.

Yep MrT used them at Malham and Draycote. The black one's been around for a while but never really bothered trying it down here as I've always judged the fish to prefer softer shades of browns, gingers, olives and yellows. I'll have to revise that after the Draycote experience. I'm off to Pitsford today so I'll give them a fling just out of curiosity.
