Default Wing post material

What do you think is the best material for wing posts on parachute flies?

I've seen patterns using all sorts of stuff and I seem to have settled on Antron, usually a peach colour, using a single strand for size 18s and doubling or trebling it for larger sizes. The trouble is that it seems to go a bit fuzzy after a while rather than staying nice and straight and tidy as it was when it when it left the vice.

Are any of the other possibilities better and where can I get them?

Thanks and Happy Mother's Day to everyone else who dare not go out today.

Gudgeon

Hi Gudgeon,
I have tied flies commercially for years now and I understand your comments perfectly. I have also used cdc and precut wings. These days I am using 'EP-Trigger Point Int'l Fibers' supplies by Enrico Puglisi. Comes in 16 different shades that can be matched to wing types etc. This materia can be changed through the use of marker pens, has a permanent waterproof covering so you don't need to put any floatant on it. Dries quickly through a couple of false cast.

I can confirm Gudgeon, this guy ties a mean fly, I caught my first Brownie of this season on one of his creations, that I think had said wing post material on it.

I always thought EP looked good for posr but never tried?

at the mo ive changed from using aero wing (way too expensive) to poly propelene yarn, great stuff a bit more fuzzy than aero wing which i like and really doesnt like absorbing water. great for big klinks and paras for the duo in fast water. cost me 1.50 for a card. i get it from orvis, shame they dont have a darker shade of grey for imitative patterns. chartreuse has impressed me stands out just enough
