Default copper wire

On the look out for ultra fine copper wire.
Bought some soft uni wire, 10gr #33.
Looking for something at least half this.
Can anyone help?

Cheers, Graham

Graham I was looking to source extra fine copper wire to tie some PTN's using Davy McPhail's method. I finally located the right stuff at Maplins (After receiving advice on this forum). It was 50SWG (standard wire gauge) It came on a spool containing 2000 metres? and cost about 8 quid. You transfer it onto an empty spool (you can use a leccy drill if you want) Use a ceramic bobbin holder and you are sorted.Enouhg for 2 lifetimes tying and not costing 4 quid plus for 50 yards!

sonnaghan, as a rule probably okay but it's not lacquered so will oxidize after a few wettings. Often they use a lower grade of copper as well so it may not always handle/wind as well as the non-domestic stuff. Take a look in your local craft shop as well, generally the best size to get from there is their finest. It's not as fine as many of the other gauges we use, however it's good quality & much cheaper.
