Very good,
A couple of points though. Hans, would have probably tapered the body a little more and made it slightly thicker. He also almost always used peacock hurl for the thorax. The post is always on the longish side so that he can see the fly when he fishes it. Hans fishes it downstream in very rough water. The way he ties the hackle is to make sure that the 'shiny side of the hackle is on the underside. That way the fly rides a lot deeper and is part of its killing feature.
keep it up and tie lots of them, especially in black.

Very nice indeed Carl. Try using a thinner thread though so when you finnish of under the hackle it will stay in a flat plane and not pushed upwards, this will help the fly sit better in the film, but very good all the same, better than my 1st.

Cheers JS,

I think what has caused the Hackle to rise up off its 'plane' is me winding the hackle on, each turn under the next, as I started the first turn as tight as I could to the hook, thus causing the hackle to lit up, maybe I should start the turns a little higher on the next one.

Thanks for the advice fellas, again, what the forum is all about.

Highly appreciated.

I am 99% certain the hackle is meant to be raised up into the cone shape so it sits down into the water.
