Default Red Arrow

Anyone ever heard of a trout fly called the 'Red Arrow' ? If so do you know the dressing. Heard mentioned whilst fishing earlier today but was not in a position to speak to the other anglers concerned at the time.

Have tried 'googling' but with no success.

Now I do not know if this is he one you are after but I was given a pattern to try many years of the same name, an early season fly.
One still in my box so here goes.
Hook: 12
Thread: Black
Tail: GP Tippet fibres
Body: (Rear 1/2)red floss (front) black floss
Rib: silver tinsel
Hackle: Black hen.

Body tapers slightly from rear to a thicker front, sort of carrot shape but not lumpy...smooth
Not definative but maybe a help. Then again maybe way off the mark.

Highlander's dressing is what I understand to be a red arrow, think it originated in ireland and was popular on leven about 20 years ago.

Yep Highlander's correct,

Only the one's I have seen over here, are tied with black and red seals fur!! Don't know if it makes much difference though!!
Much like a pennell with a red throat.

Default Red Arrow.

Thanks for the replies and information I will tie a few up and experiment with the body materials, ie some seals fur some floss etc.

I must admit I'm surprised this is an 'old' pattern I presumed it was some recent invention as I'd never heard of it and couldn't find a reference to it either in my books or by 'googling' on the net. What does'nt surprise me is that it is a combination of red and black, these colours work well on my club water, bibio being a prime example of a successful fly I use there.

Once again this forum has proved invaluable, thanks again and I wish a successful season to one and all.
