Default Spider Web For Klinkhamer

I am going to attempt a few Klinkhamers his year and will be following an SBS I found on Diptera.co.uk , the only problem is when it comes to this bit;

Adjust the fly in the vice so that the wing post points horizontally. Catch in some spider web on the wing post and wind a few times to create a base where the feather will be wound. Be careful when using the spider web, it is very thin and brittle

Can someone tell me what Spiderweb is and where can I get it? I assume it is an ultra fine thread but can't find it mentioned on any tying suppliers site.

Danville's spider web... ultra fine is not putting too fine a point on it. It's a nylon with something like a 2oz breaking strain.

Adam, This sounds like the Klinkhamer tying method proposed by the fly designer, Hans Van Klinken, himself.The securing of the wing in the horizontal position with spiderweb can be tricky.It can be a help if you have a "long reach" whip finish tool similar to the materrelli. Good luck,a well tied Klink is a very satisfying achievement when you are trying it for the first time! Good luck
