Default Advice sought please

Hi all

My wife fancies the idea of trying flytying, its not often she shows any interest in anything to do with fishing so I am keen to encourage it!

She used to make collectors bears for a living so is quite "crafty", only problem is I have not got a clue what we will need, in terms of vice , tools, and the materials. ALl my fishing will be on rivers for coarse fish if this makes a diiferrence.

What are the essentials, and where best to source them?

Are the "starter" flytying outfits cheap and nasty or good buys at this stage?

Hope someone can help point us in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Hi Ian, I've just checked www.the-fdg.org site & it appears as if your part of the country is devoid of a local branch of the Fly Dressers Guild. However they do a "kit" which is very good v,f,m. at around £35 which includes all the basic tools, vice, materials, instruction book + a years membership to the national guild which gives you discounts at many national specialist dealers/insurance & 4 good full colour mags a year.

There are many "kits" on the market, some are okay & many are not, the one I mentioned will give you all the basics for not much money & not lots of stuff you won't need or have use for at first.

If you p.m. me a landline, I'll give you a call. Have a pen & paper handy.

Any other advice anyone?
