I used to have the same problem with 'Glass' like ribbing, Vinyl Rib, etc...
What I found was two things, give it a good rub between your hands to make it a bit more pliable, along with a bit of a stretch to get it to work & bend as you want it.
Also, when tying it in, I cut a 3-4mm angle on the end of the rib, your require sharp scissors to achieve it, other wise the rib just pops out away from the blade. Dont be afraid to give it some 'ummpfh' when tying it in too, it'll compress a little to give you your required segmentation/profile your after.
