Default A few that I've tied..

As some of you know I have been having a go at tying a few flies and thought I'd share a few pictures of my progress. Nothing amazing I'm affraid but I'm getting there - I think!

This one is supposed to resemble a Black and Peacock Spider which I tied following richardw's instructions..

I don't know what this one is called but I watched my next door nieghbour tie one and then had a go. I like the look of this one..

This fly isn't very good but I know where I went wrong and so will try again later and see how I go. I tied the tail too far down onto the bend so it is pointing downwards.. I will tie another with the tail tied onto the straight of the hook just where the bend begins.

And then just for the hell of it, here is one that my 4 year old 'invented' and as she wanted to help me to tie one! She's very pleased with it!

There pretty good matey, you have to remember the fish doesnt care wether the fly has a perfect finish or not, as long as they work for you and you enjoy tying, then thats the main thing.....Practice makes perfect..

Thanks Andy, I can't wait to try them out on the Eyebrook when the season opens! Plenty of time to keep practicing until then..!

How's it going Jimmy? I like the look of those, well done.
I told you you were a natural, you'll be selling them shortly.
Keep up the good work. S.

Very well thank you Steven, how are you? Not sure I'm any more of a natural than anyone else, and looking at the high standards of others, I doubt I will be producing flies good enough to sell anytime soon! Sure is addictive though!

Thanks, I'm not sure what the difference is between a wet and a dry or how you know which is which. I just follow the instructions of ones I like the look of for now! haha! I hope they catch me some fish anyway!

Hi Tommy,

I hadn't even considered fishing with the one my daughter 'invented'. I suppose its worth a shot though eh? Could be a good'un!

Cheers,

Jimmy.

You have done very well with your flies, Jimmy. I would use any of them, including your daughter's delight, I am sure this one will do you proud.

The second fly is a black pennel as Tommy said, the next time you dress it give it a silver butt, and add a yellow crest feather to it, you will then have the original pennel as well. Very underrated fly, works well for both brown and rainbows, bob or tail.

Thanks for your kind words Sam. I'm pleased with my flies so far but its getting addictive. Each time I do one I find a slight difference between it and the picture so have to try again! haha! From what you have said I will have a go at tying an Original Pennel, thanks.

Indeed, thanks Tommy. No doubt I'll be on here shouting about it in the spring if Amelia's fly catches anything!
