Thanks urbanflyman! I did indeed listen yes, and I'm having fun trying different patterns and trying to make each one more like the pictures!

Having just started tying myself ,ive got to say the standard of people who have just started themselves is quite scary!!.
Mine are no where near as good ,oh well back to the vice i suppose

keep at it bud, if you can get some basic lessons, once you have the basic skills you can develop loads of variations on the basic flies. It is then a matter of practising and getting your proportions right! have a look at youtube, davie mcphail has lots of really helpful vids!

I see this thread was started in January 2009. Could we see some up to date pics of Jimmy's tyings now and we can congratulate him on his progress from that flying start?!
