Default Patterns old and new....

I tied these up this afternoon and it only occurred to me later that there is probably 150 yrs of fly tying evolution between them.....yet they all look remarkably similar.
Snipe bloa (left) was a product of the early Yorkshire spider fishermen, but the other two are products of the last ten years (thanks to messrs Fratnik and Weilenmann!).

A fascinating game, this fly fishing!

wow!
there fit for the wiliest trout, thats a proper job fella.
love the deer hair sedge, the cdc looks really leggy, and the spiders look spot on. nice to see some muted tones

Very very nice ties Matt. I've got summat similar to the dries on the right with the DH wing.. with CDC underneath.. is that what's going on with yours too?

We need to do something about that white balance though

Yes the right hand flies are Hans Weilenmann's renowned CDC & Elk (only I've used coastal deer instead).
