Default Buzzers "lite"

Hi Guys

Im hoping to play with washing line on a slime line, at present all my buzzers are "slim super glue" type and sink like a stone.

I wanted a "lighter" version for my slime line and more natural looking, had idea in my head when i went to bed last night drew a quick scretch knocked up these two this morning right hand is MK1 (forgot to tie in more PT to bulk up the thorax under the shell back and folded legs ) MK2 is on the left , im really happy with it And really enjoyed tying it, best of all it looks exactly like the picture i had in my head

Click the image to open in full size.

Hope to try them tomorrow !

Afternoon Englander,

Nice flies, I like your thinking behind the 'liteness'

Why not go for the B405 Kamasan's in #10' & #12's, along with the combination of a SLF or Seals Fur Body, along with a 'tiny' dab of Watershed on the thorax only, with the Fly, tilted forward on your drying set-up, the watershed allows the Buzzer/Nymph to sit a little more naturally in the water. Try it in a glass of water You may be pleasantly surprised.

Try fishing Gordon Fraser’s B.P. buzzers behind the booby, in Black and Green.
Also, try replacing the pheasant tail wing case with very thin foam sheeting, just enough to give the fly “neutral density”, or as another alternative, White CDC, again just enough to give the fly neutral density.
I have a friend who dresses his standard Black B.P. buzzer, with the addition of a fair dollop of White elk hair as breather tubes, which he swears gives the fly an irresistible nodding action as he retrieves
the cast.

Steve Parton sells a cracking nymph wrap material you can use for the rib in the B.P. buzzer

Plenty of thin foam on ebay, sold as 40 sheet packs, and come in bright, and some nice sombre, neutral colours & shades.

The stuff DS has mentiond, is brilliant for Buzzers, creates a great segmented effect.

Medium Buzzer wrap is great for #10's, and the Small is ideal for #12's

B.P. BUZZER DRESSING.
This is taken from Gordon’s book>
At present my favourite buzzer imitator, and one that increases in popularity season by season, it seems.
The dressing is intended to give you translucent multi-coloured pattern, when compared to my old standard buzzer.
Gordon Fraser.

Hooks: standard shank 10, 12 and 14
Silk/Thread: Black on black version; fawn on others.
Rib: Clear polypropylene( I prefer Steve Parton’s nymph rib)
Abdomen Blended fur (Seal Fur)
Thorax Blended fur (Seal Fur)
Thorax case Feather fibre - black on black ; ginger on ginger ; natural hen pheasant on others.
Colour ranges: Black ,Brown, Olive, Green, Claret, Fawn, Red and Orange.
On a personal note, I no longer bother to blend the fur, and tend to stick to: Straight Black, Straight Olive and Straight Green.

Gordon Fraser, Mastering the Nymph.
