Evolution of patterns
Further to benlikestofish great thread of the classic patterns.
As I have stated I question the point when a pattern has been changed so much that it becomes a seperate pattern.
In this months FFand F tying, Barry Unwin of fulling mill flies makes a great point.
I quote,
" At Fulling Mill we understand that sometimes the history of a fly can be lost in the mist of time, with several changes-even,occasionally improvements- along the way, but great fly dressers deserve their place in history"
I think that about sums it up.
Any further thoughts?
Cheers, Graham
