Default Bonkers for Zonkers !

Hi Guys

Whilst im not a fan of lures on the whole, ive decided to have a wee play with them Had a crack at a black zonker pattern. I've been looking at zonkers on the web and there seems to be alot of variations some long, other short , some mylar bodys or other types ??

My version is on a Knapek size 6 streamer hook, black rabbit zonker strip, gold tinsel boby, with lead wire underneath, gold wire rib, and orange artic fox throat..........its 2 3/4" long ive not fished it yey but i reckon it will have a lovely action. Im i right in thinking there are size limits for competitions in relation to length ?

Any suggestions ?

Hi mate this is the international rules on flies, so your zonker is well outside the limits im affraid, as are alot of zonkers.....

"A fly shall comply with the following specification. The hook shall be single or double provided that in the case of a double hook, the angle between the bends does not exceed 90 degrees and when viewed from the side, the bends lie one behind the other. Fly irons will measure not more than five-eighths of an inch overall, including the eye. The overall length of the fly shall not exceed fifteen-sixteenths of an inch. Fly dressings may include beads provided these beads are buoyant. Attractor chemicals and the use of light emitters to flies are debarred. "

I love the zonker and fish it year in and year out, and im sure your pattern will catch fish,

andy
