If you plan on using them in y'er tying efforts ie: shellbacks, bodies etc. ..next time ye visit the local Dr. / dentist ask for the pair that will be discarded after y'er exam/visit....some ladies hair dyes include a pair in the package

There are ,I believe, differing standards of glove in use .The ones I got ,I would guess, are higher standard ones .

The use of latex in fishing flies was re-started in the 1970's by a guy called Rayleigh Boaze in the U.S. The first time I remember seeing it was in a photo of one of his flies in Trout & Salmon. The latex he used was sourced from dental use & called "dental dam" - ask your dentist what it's for if you don't know. It comes in 3 thicknesses and looks very good but it rots very quickly esp if coloured with felt tip pens.

In recent years one has been able to buy several products from the Virtual Nymph stable that not only don't rot but they can be more easily cut. These include "Designer skin" & "Nymph Wrap"

The use of surgical gloves is only any use for small flies as they are very thin & don't provide much segmentation. Generally there are 2 type latex which often has a powder coating like talc & polyurethane which doesn't and is less likely to rot.

As arkle has stated dont go tying up boxes of these as they deteriorate very very quickly.
Personally i have found the cuff/edging of these gloves are of more use than the glove itself, trim it off, tie in, twist it to cord it up tight, and wind, doing this gives you good segmentation.
