Default A selection of flies for a beginner.
Could anyone reccomend a selection of flies to start off with for a beginner.

Pheasant Tail nymphs and Hares Ears with and without beads and flashback.

Grey Duster (of course) and "f" flies - two simple dries which will catch fish.

IPN (idiot proof nymph)

Standard wetfly hook 10 or 12, gold beadhead, marabou tail and micro fritz body. Mix and match colours, orange, white, black or olive. Try combining black and green or white and green. Very simple but very effective on stillwaters.
