Default pike flys

i had some great fun tonight tying some pike flys for my adventures on the forth and Clyde canal and loch lomond were i hope to get my first pike on the fly with my new gear ,i was using zonker strips and buck tail as well as deer hair and elk too which has been a real change from tying spiders and other trout flies ,so when i get a little time ill get some pics posted of them as I'm sure they will do the job....

Tying Pike flies is great fun. The hardest bit I found getting my head round when I first started tying them was the sheer amount of materials you can go through, some of the off-cuts would tie dozens of trout flies!

Look forward to seeing the pics and hearing about your success.

yeh well they are great and your totally right i kept all the cut off parts for just the thing you said "trout flies " as im not one for tosing out waste if i can find a use for it ,with the main reason being im always having to dig deep for the money for materials.

U,
One thing I have found is that use synthetics where possible as fur and feathers hold a lot of water during false casting , making it even more chuck and duck
Regards
Rob
