Default Tiemco 103 BLs. Snapping ????????

For years I have had nothing but good things to say about Tiemco hooks.

However I recently bought half a dozen boxes of Tiemco 103BLs and found them to be brittle and in fact had 5 break on me on fish takes this last weekend.

Has anyone else used this pattern ??

Have I just been unlucky with a bad batch ?...

Ive not had the problem, but heard of people having issues. Tell Tiemco about it, you may get some freebies.

I use a Griffin Patriot and have had problems with sizes 13s and 15s so far.

Not had a problem with any other patterns and makes in the same vice.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

When I get a moment today I am going to check the rest of them.

I am always in the habit of ping testing every hook I use and had a couple go at that stage ..... gonna have a very close look at all I have bought.

I've had it too on 15's (I think)
It may be batch-related, as I had it happen several times last year, but not so far this

I had a Tiemco TMC 103BL size 13 snap, right at the bend too. I thought it must've been a massive fish but looks like it was just duff hooks

I bought Partridge hooks in 22 and 24 years ago...They were so brittle they were snapping in the vice under thread tension. When I returned them after a phone call they sent me twice the amount I'd purchased. Bad batch...it happens.

I think is the same for most brands of hooks.
I had a batch of hooks a couple of years ago that you could shape as they hadn't been tempered but they were replaced by the retailer.
