Kamasan B160s (they have a wide gape) in sizes 10s and 8s.

B980 or even 982 (heavier wire, sinks faster) size 6 goes in the gauge.

Apart from the Partridge Big Mouth Nymph, which IMO is the best for blobs, there is another hook that does the job admirably and is not a fly tying hook. Look in your tackle shop for HIRO RO BASIC CHINU RING B MOD P27 No.4 Art. 4663. These are coarse angling hooks and have a gape similar to that of the Partridge at half the cost. Good wire strength and black japanned as well, if you don't like shiny hooks.

hideoshi blob hook in 10s or Hayabusa 6s with the eyes nipped down to meet comp rules
