Default Are there Singapore Cape restrictions?

A frend of my bought two sets Whiting Hebert Miner Capes on Ebay,
a Hen and Cock. The seller is from Singapore.

They are on there way, but I was wondering isn't there a rescriction from birds and feathers with Singapore?

There shouldn't be as they were imported from the U.S. originally, that is provided of course they are the genuine article. For import/export laws check out the C.I.T.E.S. regs.

Make sure that they are NOT sent by U.P.S. A guy I know lost 3 platinum's as they said they "wouldn't get through customs". Apparently they said "that they had burnt them". Read into that what you will !

I asked him where it was from, he did not think about it as he just searched for Whitning Capes on Ebay.

The package came already this morning, it isn't opened yet, the stamp said it is from Singapore.

We deside not to take any risk at all and will burn it.

Rather than do that, put the bags/capes in the freezer for a a few days, let them defrost . Then zap them for 30 secs in a m/wave on low. If you're still uncertain then fumigate them in formalin, p.m. me f.f.i. They will have been treated in the U.S. anyway, this is just belt & braces.

Why? You can't run any risks of bird flu, it only lives for a few hours after the host dies and only infects the respiratory system and gut tract anyway, so you're safe. If you're worried about bugs then follow John's directions above. Neither of these should be an issue if the skins are Whiting as they are originally packaged in the US. I think you're being overly paranoid here Bopper.

If you're really worried then send them to me rather than burn them.

If you still think there is any risk, just post them to me and I will deal with the problem here as I have the required facilities for them.

I will do this FOC for you and your mate!

Question Humm, something bothers me here.

Kind of curious. You got these capes off of e-bay, via Singapore ..... was there that much savings vs just buying the things from a reputable US fly shop?

Sounds kind of odd that the stuff could be packaged here (US), sent half way around the world (Singapore), sold at a lower price, and then shipped another half way round the world (UK).

But what do I know?

No savings, just a seller that had Whitning and package deals we both did like, shipping was cheap I have to admid, but splitting costs in two it isn't very much anyway.

"reputable US fly shop?"

Well I am not a big fan of the USA with all those finance stories, I prefer to buy from the UK or whatever country but not from the big bubble USA.
