Brassie is still manufactured I believe and readily available, nice size although my preference is with the small.

Brassie is indeed the size between small and medium.

UTC is available in Extra Small or Midge, Small, Brassie, Medium and if memory serves me right, Large which is not much good on anything less than a 6/0!

Probably the best generally available wire on the market and as Midlander says in his ElectroStatic Buzzer post, the best colour holding when SHHAN, epoxy or superglue is applied as most others have colour run when you do this.

I have some UNI wire in a few colours that I never use as the majority of what I have is UTC, this lot being mixed sizes.

Just to throw a cat amongst the pigeons, there are others as well. There is a London based company called The Scientific Wire Co, who deal with many 1000's of types of wire. They have a sub-division that supplies 50 gm spools to the craft shop trade, some interesting colours, but lacking a wide size choice i.e. only one, the finest is suitable for 12s upwards. Quality appears the same as UTC, and the 50 spools were approx. £3.50 each retail last time I bought them from a local craft stall. www.wires.co.uk is the site they're on. If you want to find a source of spools to rewind them onto, a local branch of the Early Learning Centre is worth a look, you'll need some rubber bands though !
