I know in crystal form that it can possibly be dangerous but I do find there is also a fair bit of scaremongering at the mear mention of the stuff.
You mean something like this Kev?...

That's a little misleading, if i advertise something as picric, it has been dyed with picric.
You mean like this !!!

Because it's strength wains the more you put in to it.Also if there is a difference in the base shade it will come out a different colour even slightly.

Thanks all,
warnings duly taken on board, did, briefly, consider making own but bits of the process.. ie ..fizzing.. and ..toxic gas.. and girlfriend saying.. NO!. put me off. Aqueous solution is what i would like to get and serious safety precautions would be followed. Some rather wonderful colours there gentlemen. :

Quite right Kev, I was just posting it to illustrate that you can get perfectly good olive shades without using picric. Same goes for any blue-grey material such as mole or squirrel. Here's a spot of French Partridge..

It's simple enough to do mate, just Jacquard Yellow Sun with a tiny bit of Chartreuse although I've been told Veniards fluo yellow is worth a go on some materials too.

Are you after sending me some feathers down then Kev? In the interests of scientific comparison.
