Default Hair-Winged Soldier

Had a few good days fishing with the predecessor to this here hair-wing chap (a simple Soldier Palmer variant with no tail, and a very sparse bronze mallard cloak). It worked a treat on the top dropper in a nice comfortable wave, but I fancied beefing it up a bit for use in a bigger blow. I decided to make the mallard a little more 'leggy' rather than the previous sparse cloak, for some additional movement in the big waves. Also, never being one to pass on the opportunity of overcooking a prefectly good idea, I decided to give it the hair-wing treatment too! Anyway, see wot ya fink.

Nice one Pugwash, did you apply the 'legs' one side at a time? Looks tricky.

Cheers, Heron. Yup, one side at a time mate. I tried a mallard shoulder 'hackle' on a previous go - small bronze feather, tied in at the tip and wound a couple of turns. Wasn't a bad result, and will save the idea for a rainy day, but decied to stick with the m.o. you correctly spotted.

Very nice Rob, I would love to see a pic of your setup for taking these pictures if you get the chance, the settings on the camera would be interesting as well
