Default Clyde Flies

Hi Guys~

Ive become very interested in traditional Loch flies and have even caught fish on them.

Ive just found a little on "Clyde style" flies ****** all there they are so sparse !! However ive now got confidence in those tiny buzzers reckon i can get my head round these guys.

Can anyone point me in the direction of more info on how to fish them, where to fish them the idea behind them ?? i.e why so sparse

Oh can anyone recommend a good book with lots of good photo's of traditional trout flies wet/clydes/dry etc and the history behind them ?? is there such a book ?? I know my old Dad will be asking what i want for my birthday ....... cant think of anything then thought this would be very interesting

Highlander (on this forum) is your man.

Take a look at his web site first.

Default Clyde Flies

Some better fly photos on Han's site if you care to have a shifty.
Really have to update my site, after all it is over 10 tears old & apart from updating/spell checking a bit of text & adding a few bits & pieces it has been untouched.

In addition to the excellent sites already mentioned, you will find about twenty pages on Clyde flies, all accessible from the following page:

You could try, "Lets fish the Clyde," and Lets fish Again" by Bert Sharp,
a little hard to come by but both worth the search, especially the first one.

As Gander says, there is a wealth of info on-----

http://www.thehighlanderway.com/

The only addition I offer is that when fishing small flies in a river or stream, begin by Casting UPSTREAM. I normally only fish down & across in very slow deep water.
If you are dressing your own flies, read as much as you can on the subject, it is very easy to overdress these tiny works of art.
