Default A few more ...

Since my last post i've been tying more buzzers and i'm now very happy with how they are turning out so i thought i would venture in to trying a few more patterns. I know they're not perfect so please feel free to leave C&C

(the black shipmans is done with seal's fur, boy this stuff is fun for a beginner )

Wow very nice, very neatly tied if you have only been tying for a short time you definitely have a natural ability.

One comment I would make is that for me the tails on the pheasant tail and the shipmans are a bit long for my taste. If you look at the natural Baetis that the PTs imitate the nymphs have relatively short tails, only get longer when they hatch into the duns and spinners (hope the terminology is correct for Baetis but probably not lol).

Very well tied for someone who's recently taken up tying, all the basic elements are in there and you clearly know what your'e doing, proportions etc will improve as you tie more and get a feel for how each pattern is tied but try and develop your own style if you can as it'll give your flies a signature. A bit more light onto the subject would help to see whats going on better. well done.

I agree with Wingman (wouldn't dare do otherwise ) I'd fish any of those with confidence. For me the breathers are a bit too long on the shipmans but I'd wait for Captain to comment. He's the expert

Thanks for the positive comments I will do some more PT soon & take your advice on board, hopefully with a bit more practice they will improve, same goes for the shipmans

I bought my 'tying kit' on 2nd sept (good money wasted lol). Sadly I tried to run before i could walk & wasn't happy with the results so i just tied simple lures for the winter. It was only after seeing some great flies on here over xmas i thought, maybe i should try again so i bought better materials / equipment then spent too many hours watching SBS's from Davie McPhail etc

Re the tails on the PTN, yea, they're a bit longer than "traditional" but that's how I tie them for stillwaters. Pond/lake olive nymphs do have slightly longer tails than the river olives.
