Default Thorax on Nymphs

I need a bit of guidance as I seem to make the thorax on my nymphs too small. What is the general rule of thumb for body to thorax ratio?

Eg Kamasan size 12 would it be 50-50 or more 60-40

I generally go for 1/3 too... but if it's a bit off, I can live with that.

on a river does the trout really notice? the nymph is moving down stream and he grabs it before the current takes it away or before his competitor gets his choppers on it.

If trout can see and examine nymphs to such degree as to consider the thorax length, well what do they say when they see the hook eye, bend, barb and hook point?

Good point, as regard to proportions in nymphs mine are usually all over the place but they still catch fish, infact some of my nymphs that have very small thoraxes compared to the body seem to be more productive and also some that have longer tails seem to be more effective, but thats just my experience.

Yes, ugly flies catch fish. But they're ugly.
