Cheers guys. When I was in Jackson Hole last summer my guide made me buy a few paras like these only in callibaetis colouring and #18. I wanted to see if I could tie something in the same style. My post doesn't look nearly as good as the shop-bought ones. On those, the deer hair didn't flare like mine. I used Darlon for the shuck. It's much finer than Z-lon but I wouldn't mind if it had a crinkle to it.

nice looking fly, i have not seen them tied with the deer hair showing like that, do you tie it in last??
if it was tied in first you could cover it up with the body???

Zimtrout, that's is how the originals were tied. Tail is tied in, followed by the biot body, deer hair post and hackle, then dubbing and lastly the hackle is wound and tied off.
