Hi Guys~
Ive been "trying" to do a few traditional Loch wet flies, i found they are harder to do than they look, i keep having problems with winged wets, finding the wings "buckle" or "separate" a bit making them look a bit untidy ...........not sure the fish will really mind but its just annoying for to me.
I tied up this sexy little Kate variation the other night but with blue front hackle and yellow foss tail on a size 12 ............... its ok but im not too happy with the black hackle, too large for the hook ? and a little untidy all round ............ however i used it at a local fishery on friday there lots of Browns rising along with rainbows so i put it on the top dropper some 6' from the point fly i cast over a fish i saw rise as the put fly sank the "sexy kate" just sat there like a big ole dry fly for a second or two ,just long enough for a lovely 3lb rainbow to gulp it down i struck into him before he knew what happened

this is as close to dry fly as ive got so far , blooming fantastic to see it take this fly id just tied up the night before
Goes to show the trout arent such hard critics as we are ourselves
