They are very good and they will catch fish. Every fish caught on one will bring much more satisfaction than if it had been caught on a shop bought pattern. My fly tying is awful, but I could never imagine buying flies and I do catch fish, sometimes.

To get more replies on this forum, you should have asked if anyone could suggest improvements, such as using UV tying thread, and if so, where would you get some. If you had, then every vendor and/or friend of vendor looking to flog their wares would have enthusiastically replied

You have a much lower opinion of this forum than I have. There are always plenty of people here who are willing and very well qualified to offer advice. The scenario you describe above is not one that I am familiar with on this forum, perhaps you are confusing it with another one.

There are of course always those who have nothing useful or constructive to add, but feel the need to post anyway. As your own comments prove.

Nice one, they are better than my first efforts, practice, practice and more practice.
But still at the end of the day those flies WILL catch fish.
Cheers

I think in all honesty you are trying to run before you can walk. I would start with simple patterns & work up over time to more complicated.

I agree with Highlander. I think you are trying to do too much all at once. Best take a simple pattern and master the techniques used for that before building on that foundation by adding skills step by step. I speak from experience, as when I first started, I tried to tie everything in sight. Eventually, I had to slow down, go back and learn the basics before I could really progress.

All that said, considering that these are your first flies, they are very good.
