Default Early Season, Fly pattern suggestions...?

I'll be spending a few nights at home and have decided to get out the old fly tying kit.

Any good new early season fly patterns for me to try having a go at?

(trout lake mostly)

My skill is fairly good, so lets be having some crackers please lads

Thanks in advance

John

Hi John,
The ones I will be using early season are lures like Vivas, Montana variants, Cat's Whiskers, Whisky Fly, Ace of Spades (a killer on local loch), Cormorants,
etc, etc - anything with a bit of marabou to get the fish to take.

Happy tying,

John.

You could consider a weighted (cased) caddis as well - pretty good early season fish takers.

if were you i ould tie up a few 2.0 & 2.5ml nymphs to use on a klink & dink as it may still be tad too cold to get some fish to rise but youll never know you might surprise yourself

For still water, as it's been so mild this year down here (just over the bridge from you). There could be so good early season insect activity if it carries on.

Black buzzers
Blood worm
Stick fly (green)
Black PTN with green thorax.
Dark diawl bachs
Cormorants

Or the lures already suggested by Jetta.

Thanks for the suggestions lads!

There are so many flies, I find it hard knowing what to tie
