Default Small hook issues

Hi all

Wondering if some of the micro guys could offer some help with a little problem I am having.

I am having issues with the thread slipping round on anything below a 24, even got the point of finishing a CDC and elk on a 26 and then had the whole fly slip round sideways.

Anyone else experience this? Have got round it by putting some superglue on at the beginning of the fly but waiting for it ro dry a bit is slowing dow the production line a lot.

Cheers in advance

Dan

You may benefit from using a tacky wax on your thread. Have you seen Andy Baird's blog Small Fly Funk

I spread the smallest bit of varnish on the hook shank then wrap the thread over. No need to wait for it to dry and will set before you finish the fly and there won't be any wet varnish to stick to feathers etc.

I cant remember the exact brand of thread mate to be honest. It is incredibly fine and strong, was sent to me by John Tyzack specifically for tying some small f flies.

Will give the wax and varnish a bit a go cheers guys.

It's probably nano silk. It's gel spun and does slip. It also loses it's colour.
