Default Dumbell/Bead Chain Eyes

when tying winged lures (i'm talking cats whiskers) what is your prefered method of attching the 'eyes'? above or below??

ive tied them both ways and have had fish on both. i think the flies with the eyes tied above look better in the vice ......but do they fish better??

Any thoughts

Cheers

Guy

I put them on top. I've convinced myself that it adds an extra bit of wobble. I've no idea if it actually does.

It really depends on if you want the fly to fish upside down which is what normal happens if you tie them on top.

Default Re: Dumbell/Bead Chain Eyes

If you put the bead or dumbell eyes on top the lure will travel upside down.To get the profile right the eyes need to be tied under the hook shank not on top.
