Default Abbra Cat dabbler

Was asked to tie a few of these up for a mate. opinions please:

Hook: Kamasan B175 size 10
Thread: UTC Hot Orange
Tail: Bronzed Mallard
Body: Chartreuse Elite Dubbing
Rib: UTC (sml) Red
Hackle: Whiting Chartreuse Grizzle Hen
Wing 1: White Marabou
Wing 2: Bronzed Mallard
Cheeks: JC Splits

Nice looking fly in a great colour scheme.

Why did you only cloak the top half of the fly as I always do 360° round the hook as I think it looks more balanced ?

Looks good
And I prefer the cloak that dosent hide the under body of the fly, cant see the point of covering the bit the fish will see most of.

TBH Al, most of my "dabblers" are tied this way. I'm a bit like MM I suppose where I like the fish to see them.

Having said that, I was taught to tie them this way. There was some sort of science behind it I think. I think the original dabblers where tied this way and it had Something to do with air bubbles being created when you only cloak the top and sides. I might be wrong - where's Stan Headley when you need him??
