Default Stewart-Style Rootbeer Cruncher

Like one or two other members, I took a bit of a shine to Peter Duri's mouth-watering 'Wet Peacock' Stewart-style cruncher in last years 'Nymph' competition, and promptly lashed up a few variants...

Of those, The Rootbeer version was first off the mark, taking its first fish on Stocks in April, then accounting for a good few fish on a red-letter day on Draycote in May. It stayed consistant pretty much right through 2011, taking good numbers on fish on several waters.

A very useful alternative to a standard cruncher, with some lovley 'oily', natural looking colours and a nice amount of flash. The extra hackle through the thorax also gives you few options with the dynamics of your team.. the Stewart style will sink slower/fish higher than a 'standard' cruncher tie in the same size on the same hook - worth thinking about and exploiting when small adjustments to your presentation are needed.

Anyway... here ye go...

Well... yes... and no. Nothing to stop you using any materials you like that you think might lend themselves to this style of tie. Rootbeer isn't Mirage though, and vice versa.
