Default dubbing drys

what do most of you use for dubbing 14s down to size 20 dry flies dark olive etc

Depends on the pattern and the effect required obviously, but for the majority of standard patterns I like Fly-rite as much as anything.

I use a dubbing by Orvis I bought years ago and still have some left - really fine and soft. Can be used for all sorts of flies - nymphs, dries and even whispy dubbing on spider patterns when used with Pearsalls. Great stuff. That was a while back...now have alook at Orvis Spectrablend which I'm fairly sure is the same stuff.

The blue underfur from a wild rabbit, as per the Grey Duster. If you really do want to achieve an olive colour simply use yellow or orange thread instead of the traditional light brown.

BTW I've never found an upwinged fly with an olive body.
