Default Vampire or Krystal Hackle

Hi folkes, i have never used vampire hackle or krystal hackle for my my lures. Is one better or different than the other? Is vampire hackle much cheaper for the same effect?

Any advice very welcome

Take a look on Celtic Fly Craft's website, they're the originators of these
materials. Krystle hackle's finer & has more of a "glisten" to it, the olive colour's are great!!
Vampire is more like a standard blob type chenille.
Hope this helps mate

Rudolf

'VampireTM' is the range - it hosts Plush, Mini, Hackle fritz etc.

Vampire Hackle and Crystal Hackle is basically the same, although, the Crystal hackle is slightly finer, but more or less the same density. The only thing that would deter my decision of which to buy is what colours are available where!

I'd say Hippy was good too. I use this on all my Flash Stragglers. Superb stuff.

Best Regards

Stuart

Thanks for your info

Is any product easier to work with than the other?

Depends what your trying to achieve.

The easiest Fritz to work with is the small stuff as it takes less 'faffing' around to get it to sit right. The only fritz I've come across which is easier to use is the 'Gel Core' stuff as the core is a lot stronger and tighter which means none of the strands fall off the core, as opposed to SOME other fritz.

With all fritz, the 'wind and draw' (not the actual term, not sure if it has one?) technique is the best way to go.

Tie the fritz in at the bottom of the hook shank and wind around the body in touching turns but after each turn draw the fritz back, then put another turn in front. Repeat this to the stopping point and 9/10 times it will be perfect.

This ensures non of the fritz strands are trapped under the next turn and gives an even profile.
