Default Little Woven Bug

A wee bug, woven with peacock herl and silk. Simple enough to tie, as yet, untried.

Comments welcome.

The very first One I tried had a herl thorax... Wasn't too sure on it - back to the drawing board!

I would love the herl to be underneath but don't think it's possible...

I see what you mean! The first one you posted looked like it needed the peacock herl thorax...then you post your 2nd fly and it doesn't look as good as the first

How about a wing post type thing....wrap the peacock herl around it instead of a hackle, then pull it over to form a peacock herl thorax cover. Maybe slightly dub the thorax also with a mix of the abdomen colour and a wee bit something else?

Very good idea on the thorax cover. Another idea would be to weave the herl and some straggle/micro fritz for the thorax...

Wouldn't the core give you too much build with the straggle fritz though?

How about two colours of marabou twisted together...say the abdomen colour (sunburst) and brown. Taken from near the tip of the feather....then posted peacock herl thorax cover?
