Re: Weights and measures
Ahoy,
Unfortunately I don't think there is much recourse you can have, unless a product is 'different' from it's description, ie they tell you you're getting 10g of something but you only get 8g, then the Sale of Goods Act and Distance Selling Regulations (if bought by mail order/online/phone order) have pretty much got you covered.
I buy most of my materials for tying online (mainly through convenience, partly because of cost), including lots from ebay, aswell as the well known companies. So far I have found the best way to be sure of what i'm getting is by only buying recognised brands, however I have been surprised by the occasional packet of stuff that I got from Hong Kong for 30p a packet, including postage!
I would suggest checking ebay.com rather than .co.uk for certain materials, even for UK made items, it's often cheaper to get them, pay the high(ish) postage and the tax (on the odd time you get a letter to say customs have stopped it (most suppliers will mark it as a gift or commercial sample as long as you're not buying masssive quantities, as it saves them on the paperwork)), than it is to buy them from my local tackle shop. And all this while the exchange rate is ****! But that's a rant for another day.
Maybe we should start a thread to consumer tips? Good sources for certain items etc.
