Default Another winged wet

This is another wetfly using woodcock, I quite like the wing but would prefer it just a smidging bigger tied the tail a bit longer than usual aswell. Tied on a kamasan B175 size 10.

Thanks Fortbhoy, a fine art I wish well I have about 10 different flies that I've tied and can't choose which one to put in and will probably end up tossing a coin, they might have wings then again might not, mind you if I get a top 5 spot the only thing that'll have wings is a pig flying past my bedroom window

The shortish wing & body on that hook with the long tail are a break with traditions of proportion but it works really well & just looks "right" with the ingredients & style of dressing

I have to disagree, the tail is far too long, and the hook looks two sizes too big for the dressing. Nicely tied though.

Thanks Eddte Steve and Brownsville for your commentsi.
Interesting to see conflicting views sometimes, tied as a traditional wet I have to agree that the proportions are definitely not to standard which does give the impression that it should have been tied on a smaller hook and the tail is too long. I think I was seeing what I could get away with by breaking convention and ignoring a few rules. I know what your'e saying Steve, a fly can have the right look but not necessarily when compared to how it should be tied to standard format in which case it wouldn't look right as the proportions just wouldn't fit with that model. If I'd put variant after woodcock and amber does this change how the fly looks in accordance to it being tied to standard wetfly format? I mean it is a variant anyway but i just havn't stated it which I suppose I should have as I'm sure woodcock and amber already exists as an established pattern. So it could be looked upon as being a variant having a shorter wing and longer tail and shorter body than normally would be expected....
