Default Waterhen & olive spider

Tied a few of these useing pearsall's threads again for the body, these are made up of olive and green shades. I used waterhen for the hackle as it has a greenish tinge to it and dyed olive PT fibres for the thorax. Tied on kamasan B175 size 12.

Hi Mark, cracking spiders as always , spot on.
And the pics, they're blooming great too.

I did have a quick go at a combo thread spider, primrose and orange (hot) with partridge. I was quite pleasantly surprised with the results, especially when wet.
When I get chance I'll takes some pics and post them up.

Going to experiment a lot with that.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Tony

So what was the quickest to tie Mark as apart from a close up you could almost swear that it was the same body ?

Pretty much the same length of time to tie each one Dabhoy, getting the PT fibres to look just the way I wanted them would be the hardest part of this tie I think, the rest fairly straight forward.

Its from veniards falsecast, so it does tend to have that veniardy smell that wer'e all so familiar with, can't remember exactly where I got it, possibly my local fishing tackle shop McHardy's of Carlisle who also have a website as I know they sell it or did anyway.

I am a bit confused now, dont take much i know can you tell me the difference between these spiders and a cruncher pattern. To me they are crunchers, what denotes them as spiders.

Taking nothing away from your tying or use of materials, that is exceptional as usual, its just my ignorance in fly names, you can tell i have never fished on a river with a fly.

Excellent again Mark, very much like the quill effect on the bottom one.
I've got plans to do a spiders box and have some waterhen wings.
