Very nicely tied/photograhed & they look absolute killers. However a Mr.Bob Church beat you by using the same name some 30 odd years with another pattern that's not totally dis-similar to the 1st one. His fly has really stood the test of time & kills fish as well today as it ever did.

35 years maybe; but didn't Bob Church name his the Appetizer?

Troutfisher, I've always tried & try to stick to originators dressings when I supply flies to customers & in the case of the fly in question the only difference I make, on occasion is to use white thread rather than the original black.

The dressing I supply is as follows. L.S. d.e. 8/10, thread as above. tail & false hackle, orange, green & grey mallard fibres, body white (cotton type) chenille ribbed with flat silver metal tinsel. wing, white marabou overlayed with a small amount of grey squirrel tail hair. I've only dressed a few hundred of them though.

If asked to "modify it", with beads, weight etc, then no problem, but it's a variant, not the original. When wet, it may look slightly like the 1st of Peter's flies with the predominant white wing.

I thought that Hans had photo'd them, as the background & fly holding device, which looks a bit like an old type draftsmen's pen but could well be something entirely different.
