Default Some flies

Here's a couple of flies, one is another picture of one I posted before because Kevin asked about the wing;

And the other is just a black fly with a grey wing

Any comments appreciated.

Nice tying. The bottom one reminds of a Blae and Black.

Tails look a little long on both, to my eye.

Are you trying to throw us off the scent for the competition, or, like me, haven't a clue what to submit?

Either way I've lost.

Mike

Thats a different fly as you sorted the wing
Nice looking but I dont think I could be bothered faffing with married wings even though I have done it with limited results.
The another fly has a cracker of a wing

Thanks for the comments gents. I’m just trying to get the fingers working again, I haven’t been doing much tying recently.

I’m like you Mike, no idea as yet, I’m pretty sure it will have a hook but that’s as far as I’ve got. It’s not the people posting pictures of flies you need to worry about, it’s the secret squirrel pro tyers!!!

I’m tying two of everything at the moment just in case I strike it lucky (give a million monkeys a typewriter...)! The wings are a faff and probably next to pointless in a fishing fly, but they look nice and as an exercise I think it’s good practice. I think the wing on the bottom one is a bit too long really but once I've got it sitting on top of the shank nicely I aren't taking it off to shorten it a bit! Anyway I was happy with the shape, I just can't seem to get the top edge of the wing level with the shank like the American guys do.
