Default Left handed tiers

Just wondering if there's many of you out there? Seems most of us are a righty, and therefore spin our materials the right way :-P

Left-handed, but tie right-handed. I flip my pics in photoshop to cover up bad tying

Brannan, there is NO "right way" it's whatever way you find best.

I'm right handed & wind towards myself, instead of the way that most others do it, & other tiers such as Oliver Edwards do the same.

I've re-taught several others to do it this way & they've gone on to win various tying competitions such as the Benson & Hedges etc.

We used to have a right haned person, who like but opposite Rob, tied left handed & very good he was at it to. He could tie as well, if not better than most others in our FDG & a hell of a lot faster.

Alex and Col are both left-handed, Andy. Much fun on trips when we shuffle the pack... lets just say I'm glad Alex fishes barbless, and it's a good job

Charlie Craven is a big proponent of tying left-handed even if you are right-handed. He has a lengthy argument for this in his book.

Yep, I even turn the head of my Regal vice upside down. Find the lever to be more comfortable on the far side.

I tie flies left-handed - and proud of it, though I can't imagine why it could be conceived as being either advantageous or disadvantageous - in principle. I do sometimes get bother with threads that have a twist that unravels when tying leftie.

Most left-handers have their wierdnesses though. I write, throw, cast a single-handed rod, hold a tennis bat, etc, etc in left hand... but when it comes to two-handed things...

Hold a guitar, violin, rifle = left-handed
Hold a golf club, cricket bat, spinning rod, put jooks up = right-handed

I'm way too old to remember if this is because my dad taught me to play golf right-handed so he didn't need to buy me a set of left-handed clubs

I also reel in every reel I have ever owned, including fly reels, fixed spool reels, centre-pins and multipliers: left-handed!

Some conflict when I attempted a double-handed Spey-cast for the first time. Didn't know whether I wanted to hold it like a trout rod or a spinning rod. Everyone said it was a good idea to be able to do it both ways, so I did my best to learn to do that. I think because of the 'fly-ishness' of the thing I'm better at it (ie slightly less awful) with left-hand up the rod.

The 3 left-handers out of 6 on our Orkney trip this year is not the record. A good few years back I was in a 6 man trip to Chew and Blagdon and 4 of us were lefties!

I've got an Integra, and the lever is on the far side when the head is facing to the left!
