Default Cormorants...take 2

Thanks to the suggestions of some of the tyers on here I've had another go....all tied on #10 buzzer hooks (all I had to hand) and lightly leaded.

....still need to tidy up the heads (though I dare say the trout won't mind) and bear in mind I want to fish them more as mini lures than pulling buzzers.

...I think the next thing to do is tie a few with a bit more flash in them (I've got some great crinkle flash mylar which should do nicely)

Nice those, much more cormoranty than the first set. Number 1 is the top of the class for me.

I don't know if it makes any difference at all but you can get a really nice effect by blending in some different colour marabou into the wing, orange would look good on the top one in my opinion.

Thank you, it is a bad habit of mine that I'm trying to correct. unfortunately the bulk of the Marabou on these was making the heads quite large and the thread was sliding down to the eye. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

What thread are you using?? Looks too bulky to me. I'd suggest using uni 8/0 or UTC 70. For tiny heads you could try some shear 14/0.

a simple cormie that does some damage here is black thread body, mirage rib, black marabou wing and mirage cheeks. Simple but very effective .

The coloured threads are actually flosses and the black was supposed to be a midge thread but maybe it's a little thicker than it should be. I'll try the pattern you suggest

This is what I think of as a Cormorant. Slim. (The scruffiness is optional)

Very fishy Bill but I wanted a more mini lure effect
