Default Gold Ribbed Hares Emerger

Hi Guys,

This is an attempt to do a fly I saw from Hans Weileman. Not nearly as good as his tying, but what do you think?

I've never seen an emerger with a gold bead.

I agree with Bear. I fish emergers as if they were trapped in the surface film, or as near to that state as I can manage. The gold bead would make that more difficult for me.

Perfectly fishable GRHEs but the 'E' stands for 'Ear, not 'Emerger'. They won't float but they'll catch.

Is that an embossed gold tinsel on the first one? Looks yellow and black but I guess that's just the flash.

That second one is a beaut mate. Much improved profile, agree with the others about the bead, if you want an emerger I would tie without one although an emerging insect does come off the bottom...

The beauty of nymphs is that they can be scruffy and still catch fish. The test of a well tied fly is if they can catch fish after fish without falling apart.

Both well worth a cast and would do the same without beads to fish higher in the water.

Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. I am busy tying up some that does not have the bead. I will post them later today.
