Really for lures there are few rules and a couple of different styles and the rest is mainly colour changes.

Just look at the materials you have and pick a style of lure, eg. tadpole and then do some different colour schemes, eg green and white, black and flouro yellow etc.

I've always had a soft spot for a Viva, at any time of year! I've recently taken to tying it with a rib of chartreuse holographic, pearl mylar over, and silver wire over that. Yea, it's probably a pointless faff, but I like the effect. The downside of having a marabou wing is that it often gets wrapped round the hook bend. I've not done it yet, but my plan is to tie in a few strands of black buck tail or some such under the wing to try and stop that happening - the same principle as using real cats' whiskers in a cat's whisker.

Judging by the other threads this morning, I wonder if robingaga is aiming to get to his 30 posts as quickly as possible...

Black and Green Fritz
Orange Fritz
Gold Fritz
Yellow Dancer
Cats Whisker
Zonker

All weighted with gold beads or lead body. Gold fritz seems to do really well when the weather cools a bit in my experience.

Thanks for your thoughts, will definetly get a few tied up from the materials you listed. I do find nomads to be very good and what i like is they can be tied quite small and a little more descreet
may even get to posting a few pics thanks jon

I always think that any type of fritz fly works well, especially green, black, white or orange, they are simple to tie aswell!

I guess i probably should have posted this at the start BUT i have loads of lures in my boxes (mainly bought) but fancy tying something a bit different and giving it a go. I like some of the twist you see on everyday patterns.
Hoping to be able to fish some catch and release so really up for trying some different ideas
