Default My favourite dry fly ...

Well 2 actually, I find these will work well on a stillwater even in the absence of a hatch.

The splayed tail made from bucktail is the key element as both patterns fish equally as well, at first I thought it was the spent wings but further testing proved it was the tails that seemed to be a crucial factor

To be honest, I don't. Sorry. I don't like the tails -too thick, and I don't like the wing - too much of it and the bodies a little thick - for my taste.

BUT.........they catch fish, which shows just how much I know

If they catch fish, you're doing something right

They look at bit bulky but once they hit the water the antron yarn sticks together and slims down quite a bit so I use a bit more and that means the fly doesn't need floatant.
