Default Tip for (nail)varnish.

Just a quick tip on keeping your varnish or nail varnish from going 'gloopy'

If you drop a bead in (gold head or similar) and replace the lid you can shake it better as the bead mixes it.

The next time you go to use it, a quick shake and it's well mixed and ready to go!

Cheers.

I first saw this recently with some nail varnish I bought and it was basically a small ball bearing.

It's been around for decades. Seen it in nail polish years ago and in touch up paints way before that...shake it....and you'll get bubbles. Spinning the varnish on the lid rapidly, clockwise, anti clockwise, will mix the thinning agent with the varnish...a better result, fewer if any bubbles...

A quick solution to thickening varnish is to add a few drops of cellulose thinners, shake well and its restored to its pristine condition!Cellulose thinners are available in motor factors.

Use veniards untit, have used halfords cellulose thinners before, but they turned hard as nails cloudy, with untit put about 10 drops in and it thins it right up.

Thanks for the tip, I've got three bottles all half full and gloopy. Off to give it a try

If it goes gloopy, you can always place the bottle of varnish in a mug of hot water;just enough hot water to cover your bottles varnish level should do, and leave for 10 minutes or so.
