Well done Terry.Just down to practise, practise, practise, now. It is worth buying a stanley knife or scalpel to strip the materials off hooks that you know you will never use.
I tend to tie Diawl Bachs on Straight hooks rather than buzzer hooks.

Not a bad effort at all. Dont cut your throat hackles though. Tie them in with one or two turns loosely first then have a look and pull them shorter if needed, then lock them in with a few tight turns. Keep at it mate

Well done Terry
Okay it needs work but that will come with practice.
Dont cut hackles unless it is the underneath of a dry fly to get it so sit more on the water.
A general rule of thumb for tying in the tail is in line with the barb but this is not written in stone ,and yours has gone around the bend slightly.

Anyway I look forward to the next installment

Very good fly for a first attempt.

Nothing majorly wrong with the fly, just needs polishing.
