Default Simple Black Buzzer

Hi Guys

Heres a simple black buzzer, ive started going away from biot cheeks back to floss, and adding breathers ! Dont think it will fish any better but i prefer the look

I'm leaning towards flexifloss as I think it gives a nicer effect (but I don't think the fish care)

I use spanflex sometimes, but found it sags too much when varnised.

I like biots, but I might have to have a go with floss later.

I tie a pattern very similar (based on Fly Tying Bible pattern) with goose biots in various colours, orange, white, sunburst, lime, yellow and they all work. The flexifloss looks more like the natural shape-wise but the colours aren't as strong.

I'm going to give yours a go and let the fish decide.

Let me know how you get on

Hook: B110 size 10 (barb crushed )

Thread: Uni Black 8/0

Rib: Medium opal mirage

Cheeks: Uni Orange Floss

Breathers: White Arctic fox

Enjoy to be honest i pretty much only use Orange for cheeks as it seems to produce more fish than any other colour ?? But then i dont fish buzzers in "teams" i nomally fish them on droppers with a lure of nymph on the point fished real slow.

Do you guys think cheek colour makes a huge difference ??

Well I've tied up a size 10 and it looks okay so then I tied a 14 (my more usual size to fish black buzzers) and the flexifloss I used looks a bit bulky. Both need another coat of HAN yet. I'll do another with some split floss. I like the striated, transparent effect. Looks like pulled toffee.

I often add a small pearl lurex wingback to my buzzers. Gives a nice insecty sheen. I don't bother with breathers much. They get dirty quick when you are retrieving through weeds.

Now I need to find a day when the waves are more like a ripple and conduct a fish-off.

Orange is easily my most succesfull, followed by sunburst. Not had much joy with any of the rest, red and green holo or fine pearl can have their day though
